Like its 2.7 litre sibling, the 3.6 litre Lion V8 was built in Essex at Ford’s Dagenham plant. This is a powerful engine using, as it does, twin turbo’s and it began production in April 2006.

The engine saw use primarily in the Land Rover Freelander, the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models, and it developed 268 bhp.

The engine has been possibly used in two particular vehicles in the US – the Ford 150 Pick Up truck and the Ford Expedition SUV. For the purposes of these vehicles, however, the 3.6 litre engine would be enlarged to 4.4 litres.

Ford’s Cleveland engine plant has started small scale production of the compacted graphite iron block with the potential of full-scale production eventually.
